The Best Choice I’ve Ever Made

Blog post by Sydney D., Team Moldova 2011

I grew up with what, at the time, I thought was the most amazing childhood ever. I had a mom, a dad, a sister, great friends, and amazing people all throughout my life. As I grew up I attended church services, went to bible studies, and was told somewhat about Jesus. It wasn’t that I didn’t believe, it was that I didn’t care because I didn’t think I needed Him. When I became a freshman in college, my heart began to change. I never realized how much I needed Him and how much I didn’t know about the cross. Giving my life Jesus was the easiest and best choice I’ve ever made. I now realize how much I was missing in my life and what love really is.

Before I became a Christian, I went on a medical mission trip to Belize. I interacted with children of all ages and I honestly believe this was the moment where I knew my purpose was to help children in need, whether it was medical needs or just loving them. My walk with God during this past year and a half has confirmed this belief. I have been trying my best to live out Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” Then, this past January, God led me down an amazing path. During the first week of January, I went to a conference called Passion and came upon a group called “The Right Now Campaign” who put me in contact with numerous missionary organizations, which included World Orphans.  After much prayer, God is now sending me to Moldova to share the love of Jesus Christ!  I cannot wait to share Jesus with the orphans of Moldova and to show them love, kindness, and care. God is going to do so many amazing things through us for these children I am extremely excited!

Sydney D. will be serving on the Moldova Journey 117 Team leaving in June 2011.
